Committee Chair: Lauren Thompson
For decades, college theatre at Rice has been an important source of entertainment for avid theatre-goers both within and without the hedges. This tradition is alive and well at Martel College.
Since its inception, the Martel College Theatre Committee has sponsored quality theatrical productions for the enjoyment of the residents of Martel College, Rice University, and members of the wider community. The productions vary widely in genre, and are known for attracting the creative abilities of students from all colleges – except Jones, of course.
Martel College Theatre Committee has planned an exciting schedule of events for the 2013-14 academic year. This year we wanted to do something unprecedented in regard to the theatrical productions, so we proposed the idea of a collaborative show to a few other colleges on campus.
The result = North College Theatre Association!
Jones, Martel and Baker have decided to team up and put on a mammoth-sized, opulent show. This show has been scheduled for the fall semester, and requires your help, support and involvement to become a success.
Your Theatre Committee also continues its year-old tradition of the Martel Talent Show. This will give every Martelian a chance to showcase his/her unique talents, take a break from studying, and have a great time. A midnight screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show is also planned. And there is still so much we have planned for the Spring!
The Theatre Committee warmly invites you to partake of this enriching tradition, and experience Martel theatre for yourself. We need actors, singers, and musicians (even didgeridoo players), in particular. If all this is not your cup of tea, you can help us out backstage by setting up for the shows, and even by helping us in the creative and advertising departments. There is a place for anyone and everyone!
